Introducing Workbence, a Canadian Group of Companies

By Workbence

Workbence is a Canadian group of companies. Mert Kilan founded it in 2022 to build and own companies that solve real problems. The first focus was AI for industry. The group now runs four businesses across technology and commerce. Each company is owned outright and run directly by the same small Workbence team.

Four companies, two industries

Workbence AI builds AI platforms for one industry at a time. PetroMind™ AI, for oil and gas drilling operations, is the first platform and is currently in pilot. More industries are in development.

Workbence Agency is the client-facing company and the core of the business. It is a Calgary software studio where senior engineers and certified penetration testers design, build, and test secure web, mobile, and AI software for teams across Canada and the US. Services and the team are at workbence.agency.

Workbence Studio is the in-house product studio. It designs, builds, and publishes original apps and products. Its first app is CostSnap, which reads job-site photos, drafts the labour and materials for that location, and applies their own rates and markup before sending a branded quote. It is available on the App Store and Google Play. Next is bySeller, a Canadian classifieds marketplace with identity-verified sellers, launching soon.

GreenFur Pet Store is the commerce company. It sells eco-friendly pet products online, including natural and responsibly sourced food, biodegradable toys, chemical-free grooming, and sustainable accessories. The store is at greenfurpetstore.com.

How the group developed

The company started as an AI business. In 2023, PetroMind™ AI was built for oil and gas. In 2024, Workbence Studio opened to build original apps and products. In 2025, work continued on PetroMind™ AI while CostSnap was in development and GreenFur was being planned. In 2026, Workbence Agency launched, CostSnap shipped on iOS and Android, PetroMind™ AI entered pilot, GreenFur Pet Store opened, and work began on bySeller, a Canadian classifieds marketplace. A longer account of that history is on the about page.

One team across four companies

Workbence is deliberately small. The same people build the products and do the client work, and the agency is the core business. Client projects get the team’s full attention; the group’s own products are how the team keeps its engineering and security skills sharp. The team is introduced on the about page and at workbence.agency.
